G1924. The Bristol Boxkite on display on the Downs above Clifton village around 1910/11. Several French aviators had been engaged by the company to promote the aircraft and always a large crowd of excited onlookers appeared to watch the show. A flying machine in 1910 was very much a novelty and many still did not believe that man had achieved powered flight.
