The crews briefing notes

Translated from German the secret briefing notes show that the raid had been meticulously planned down to the last detail.

The target reference and 'run in' information is clear. Once over the English coast the crews would track toward Bristol, using the River Severn as a guiding marker. It then (Item 5 in the pictures) takes the crews to the confluence of the River Avon, along the Avon Gorge, over Brunel's suspension Bridge into Bristol. Here though they would encounter air defence, fighters, flak, searchlights and barrage balloons.
